Sad
There's nothing sadder than watching a guy try to use his former stardom to
manipulate people. I mean, it's easy for me--my career is still skyrocketing,
and I have a stack of scripts at home to read. But when I'm out at the Farm
in Beverly Hills, for example, and a guy like Steve Martin is acting like
he's something big, instead of just some standup comic from the seventies. I
mean, when was that last time that guy was doing comedy? I haven't kept up
with his career, but I go to the Improv a lot, and I never see him.
Or the other night, when I was at a club, and a certain actor (I won't say
his name, but he was in a movie that had a number in the title. And a
fraction. And "Weeks") was going around trying to get girls to go home with
him just because he was famous. "Want to come home and see my refrigerator?"
It was pathetic. I just played it cool, and since the club was in L.A.,
everyone pretended they didn't recognize me and left me alone.
